On Wednesday, a 36-year-old father was apprehended for allegedly sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter for a period of eight months while threatening that he would murder her brother if she told anybody about it.
Police said that the accused, a daily job worker who would return home in the late afternoon when there was no job and he was free early, had tied the knot with the mother of the young girl. Then, they claimed, he would mistreat the youngster while she was home alone.
The accused has allegedly been sexually assaulting the girl since January of this year, according to the girl’s statement. He threatened to kill her brother if she told anyone about him forcing himself on her. Because she was afraid, the girl kept her fear a secret for eight months.
The police claimed that when he used to return home in the afternoon, he would target the Class 8 student sexually while his wife was away from home.
“If she informed anyone, he would force himself on her and threaten to kill her brother. For eight months, the youngster kept her fear a secret, according to a police officer.
The police detained the suspect from his home after receiving a First Information Report (FIR) from the girl’s mother, who was recently informed of the sexual assault. He was accused of violating pertinent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Police said they are investigating whether the suspect also targeted any other children in the neighbourhood.
