In a lottery held by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), BJP MLA Narayan Kuche of the Badnapur district in Jalna won the most luxurious apartment in Mumbai.
The apartment was valued at ₹7,57,94,268. The apartment is located in Tardeo’s Crescent Tower and has a carpeted area of 1,531 square feet.
Kuche stated that winning the lottery prize made it possible for him to live in the city of his dreams. “Since I didn’t own a property in Mumbai, I applied for the MHADA lottery.” He intends to borrow money and pay for it. “I received a text message on my cell phone today when I was in my constituency, informing me that I had won an apartment. I will now need to borrow money to pay for it.” He added further.
MDAHA lottery winners announced on Monday
The lucky winners of the MHADA lottery 2023 were disclosed on Monday at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in the presence of the chief minister, Eknath Shinde, and the deputy chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
The most costly flat in the city of Mumbai, which is valued at Rs. 7.57 crore, was won by BJP MLA Narayan Kuche by winning the MHADA lottery.
The Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana provided 1,947 of the 4,082 homes in Mumbai that were intended for the economically weaker sector (EWS), or 2,790 homes in total. While the lower income group (LIG) was given 1,034 apartments, the medium income group (MIG) received 139 homes, and the highest income group (HIG) received 120.
According to Shinde, MHADA is necessary for realizing the aspiration of the common man who wants to have a home. “We got 1,20,144 applications for these 4,082 residences, which implies 30 people got the chance for each property. To reduce the ratio to about five applications per home, MHADA needs to accelerate the construction process.
Fadnavis raised a concern
Fadnavis was concerned about the building costs. “Fortunately, I had the opportunity to learn about the process while serving as the housing minister for a short time. I believe that the rather expensive building costs need to be reduced. Additionally, he added that MHADA should concentrate on Navi Mumbai since the area will soon be connected by MTHL. “MTHL would cut the distance between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai’s central to about 15–20 minutes. MHADA should thus concentrate on constructing one to two lakh housing units in the area.”
In addition to Kuche, Union Minister Bhagwat Karad had also filed for possession of the specific residence. On August 14, the MHADA released the complete list of winners, opening the door for first-time property buyers to get their ideal properties.
