Tensions flared at Varanasi Airport after an Akasa Airlines flight from Mumbai to Varanasi reported a bomb threat via social media platforms. The captain of the flight was warned about the bomb threat by Air Traffic Control, and the flight came down in Varanasi using all conceivable emergency procedures.
The plane landed on a different runway, and the passengers exited promptly. For nearly an hour, CISF personnel searched the jet thoroughly. During the examination, nothing was discovered.
“Everything is normal,” stated Varanasi Airport Director Puneet Gupta. “When the airport authority received information about the device, they took all precautions and verified everything, and everything was confirmed to be normal. This flight was only going to Varanasi, and it had to land there. Yes, as a precautionary measure, it landed on a separate runway.”

Following the implementation of the emergency response process, the airline alerted all 16 airports from which it operates of the bomb threat and placed them on alert. The danger was rated as “non-specific” by PTI.
