Bomb Threat on Akasa Airlines Flight from Mumbai to Varanasi Prompts Emergency Landing and Thorough Inspection

Tensions flared at Varanasi Airport after an Akasa Airlines flight from Mumbai to Varanasi reported a bomb threat via social media platforms. The captain of the flight was warned about the bomb threat by Air Traffic Control, and the flight came down in Varanasi using all conceivable emergency procedures.

The plane landed on a different runway, and the passengers exited promptly. For nearly an hour, CISF personnel searched the jet thoroughly. During the examination, nothing was discovered.

“Everything is normal,” stated Varanasi Airport Director Puneet Gupta. “When the airport authority received information about the device, they took all precautions and verified everything, and everything was confirmed to be normal. This flight was only going to Varanasi, and it had to land there. Yes, as a precautionary measure, it landed on a separate runway.”

“At 11:30 a.m., Akasa Air received a bomb threat on social media.” “We notified the local police in Mumbai and began the process of filing a FIR,” said an Akasa airline representative.

Following the implementation of the emergency response process, the airline alerted all 16 airports from which it operates of the bomb threat and placed them on alert. The danger was rated as “non-specific” by PTI.

“On September 29, 2023, Aksa Air flight QP 1498, flying from Mumbai to Varanasi, got an emergency alert from Air Traffic Control.” The captain performed all necessary emergency measures and landed safely in Varanasi, according to the airline.

The flight from Mumbai to Varanasi had with him 159 passengers, 1 child, and 6 flight crew members. The plane landed on a different runway, and passengers disembarked promptly.

Later, Varanasi Airport Director Puneet Gupta reported that “the team discovered nothing improper and that the aircraft was pronounced safe following a thorough inspection. According to ANI, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) searched for approximately an hour but discovered nothing”.

The flight time has been rescheduled for 4:00 p.m. At 7:30 a.m., the bomb threat was received while boarding was in progress.

In aviation, the necessity of being prepared cannot be overstated. While emergency landings can be stressful and difficult, the aviation industry’s commitment to preparedness and safety has helped to reduce hazards and improve air travel safety.

According to the airline, all required security processes have been performed, and the aircraft has been confirmed safe.
