The proprietor of Radha Roadways, Pavan Sharma, has been detained by the police on suspicion of robbing another business, a registered transporter for the railways that handles freight and transport work.

A subcontract for the transportation of railway engines worth 5 crores from Mumbai to Kalka and back was issued to the defendant. Sharma is charged with abandoning the railway engines.

Anil Kumar Gulabchand Gupta, the one who filed the case, has worked for Shree JB Grains Dealer, a business connected to the railways since 2018. He claims that in April the railways hired them to transfer locomotives from Mumbai to Kalka and back. Sharma enters the picture after Shree JB Grains Dealer selected a different contractor for this job. To complete the task, the two came to an agreement, and Gupta promised Sharma 4.25 lakh.

Gupta said that Sharma transported the engines to Haryana in a trailer and unloaded them there. But despite his pledge, he never delivered the locomotives to Mumbai’s Parel yard. To power the Kalka-Shimla toy trains, the engines were sent from Parel. Gupta further said that Sharma requested an additional 60,000 rupees when he was called because of a payment delay. If the money was not paid, he implied that he would retain the engines.

Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code have been introduced as charges against Sharma in the FIR.
