Mumbaikars can now rejoice as the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses have revised their fares, making travel cheaper and more accessible for the city’s residents. Starting from April 7, passengers who have downloaded the season pass or booked tickets using the Chalo app and Chalo card can avail of these exciting new fares.

BEST officials have announced that they have revised the fares for Super Saver Plan, Unlimited Ride Pass, Student Pass, and Senior Citizen Pass, making them up to 60% cheaper than buying individual tickets. The BEST administration hopes that this will encourage more people to use digital ticketing and make it more popular.

The new fares have been differentiated by INR 6, INR 13, INR 19, and INR 25, depending on the number of journeys. These passes have durations ranging from one day to 84 days. In addition to this, the fare for unlimited AC bus rides has been reduced from INR 60 to INR 50 per day. For 30 days, the charge may be INR 750 instead of the existing INR 1,250. In comparison to the current price of INR 250, a student permit for 60 journeys costs INR 200.

This move by the BEST administration will make travel cheaper and more accessible for the city’s residents. With the rising cost of living in Mumbai, this is a welcome change that will benefit many people who rely on public transportation. The Chalo app, which has crossed 44 lakh downloads so far, has played a significant role in making digital ticketing more popular. More than 25% of these downloads have been used to buy tickets, indicating a shift towards digital payments in the city.

The BEST administration has also been actively working towards improving the quality of its services, with a focus on making the buses more comfortable and convenient for passengers. With this new fare revision, they hope to make the buses more accessible and affordable for all, including students and senior citizens.

The new fares have been well received by Mumbaikars, who have praised the move on social media. Many have expressed their happiness at the reduced fares, saying that it will make travel much more affordable for them. Some have also praised the Chalo app, which they say has made it easier for them to buy tickets and plan their journeys.

Overall, the revised fares by BEST are a positive step towards making public transportation more accessible and affordable for the residents of Mumbai. It is hoped that this move will encourage more people to use public transportation, leading to a reduction in traffic congestion and pollution in the city.
