The route that leads to Mumbai was closed for a few hours, causing traffic jams for vehicles. The road had to be closed to make space for a truck and some broken glass to be removed.
Three people including the driver and two other passengers were seriously injured during the incident and were taken to the hospital right away. They were successfully evacuated from the truck’s cabin with the help of the IRB Angel Team. Unfortunately, Sadanand Patil, the 43-year-old driver of the glass-filled vehicle passed away despite obtaining medical attention.
Authorities re-routed traffic from the old Pune-Mumbai Highway to relieve congestion, giving passengers an alternate route until the highway was restored to full function. All three of the Mumbai side’s lanes are now open as of the most recent update, however, drivers are advised to use caution and drive slowly in the morning rush hour.
