Collision on Bandra-Worli Sea Link Injures Two, Reckless Driving Charges Filed

On Sunday at 4.15 a.m. near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a Mercedes collided with another vehicle from behind. In this crash, two passengers in the car were injured.

Jai Manoj Bansode, a student of 19 years and living in Bhayandar (East), was on his way from Bandra to Worli on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Sunday morning, based on details provided by the Worli Police. His car was moving with such speed that it suddenly crashed into a car in front of it.

Both Deepak Kasturi and the passenger in the car, Anjali Aggarwal, suffered injuries as a result of the accident. When the police learned about it, they sent the victims to Bandra’s Bhabha Hospital for treatment.The Bhayander resident and the vehicle’s driver, Jay Bansode, have been charged by the Worli police for reckless and careless driving.

Jay was brought to the medical centre for an exam in order to figure out if he was drinking. The police issued him a notice under CrPC 41(A) after receiving reports that revealed he wasn’t drunk.

According to the police, the event happened sometime around 5 a.m. while western area resident Anjali Agarwal, 30, was driving south in her vehicle. In the meantime, Bansode sped up and crashed her vehicle from behind. Anjali suffered a head injury, and Deepak Kasturi, her driver, was only slightly hurt.

“Anjali was taken by police officers along with her driver, Deepak, for treatment at the nearby Bhabha hospital in Bandra. Later, Anjali was sent to the nearby Hinduja hospital, and she is being examined”, according to a police officer.

According to the officer in charge, “Anjali’s driver, Deepak, was taken over to the Worli police station, where his statement was taken, and a case was filed against Bansode under sections 279 and 337 of the IPC”.

“Sections 279 of the Indian Penal Code (driving or riding on a public route so recklessly or carelessly as to threaten human life) and 337 (causing harm by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) have been used to charge the accused motorist. He received notice under Criminal Procedure Code Section 41(A) (notice of appearance before a police officer), he added.
