An official announced on Monday that the Navi Mumbai police had filed a complaint against a guy for allegedly repeatedly raping a 14-year-old girl, which led to her becoming pregnant.
The victim, a resident of the Turbhe neighbourhood, and the accused, who is from Kamothe in Navi Mumbai, allegedly connected on the social media site Instagram around January 2021 while having an affair.
An officer from Kamothe police station claimed that the girl was frequently raped by the accused at his home, which led to her becoming pregnant in May 2023.
He claimed that even though the guy’s mother was knowledgeable about everything, she made no protests about the offence.
“under pertinent provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act, the police on Sunday filed a case against the man and his mother based on a complaint made by the victim”, the official said.
An official said on Monday that “a 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and impregnated by a man she met on the social networking site Instagram in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The victim, a resident of Turbhe, and the accused, a Kamothe resident, have been having an affair since January 2021”.
The accused is said to have repeatedly sexually assaulted the girl at his home in the Navi Mumbai neighbourhood of Kamothe, which led to the 14-year-old’s pregnancy in May 2023.
After receiving a complaint from the victim, Navi Mumbai police on Sunday filed a case against the accused guy and his mother. According to a representative of the Kamothe police station, they have been charged under the appropriate provisions of the POCSO and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Navi Mumbai police recently caught a 50-year-old rickshaw driver for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl who lived next door. The victim’s relatives filed a complaint against the accused, leading to his arrest on August 6.
