In a recent development, commuters travelling on the CSMT-Chennai Express (Train No. 22157) have been facing difficulties due to the train being longer than the designated platform. The issue has been persisting for about two weeks now, and it has been causing inconvenience to the passengers, especially those with disabilities.

Activist Prateek S. Mishra has highlighted the problem faced by commuters and has called for an urgent change in the platform for the train. Mishra shared how the CSMT-Chennai Express is not halting properly, and instead, the train is going further beyond the platform. The train’s journey begins from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus’ platform 9, and one coach of the train is halting out of the platform, making it difficult for passengers to get inside or get down.

The situation is particularly troubling for disabled passengers as the coach that is halting beyond the platform is reserved for them. Mishra’s statement emphasizes how challenging it is for anyone to board a train that is standing beyond the platform, let alone someone with physical disabilities.

In response to the issue, a spokesperson from the Central Railway has stated that the project for lengthening the platforms has already begun. The construction work will be carried out in several phases, and the new platforms will be able to accommodate trains with 24 coaches without any problems.

The spokesperson also mentioned that the work is progressing quickly, and the first phase of the project will be completed soon. This phase will enable trains with 22 coaches to halt without any inconvenience to the passengers.

The railway authorities have assured that they are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and convenience of the passengers. The construction work for lengthening the platforms will be carried out at a rapid pace to avoid any further inconvenience to the passengers.

It is important to note that the CSMT-Chennai Express is a popular train among passengers traveling between Chennai and Mumbai. The train is well-known for its punctuality and comfort, and the current situation has caused some inconvenience to the passengers.

However, with the ongoing construction work to lengthen the platforms, the problem is expected to be resolved soon. The railway authorities have urged passengers to cooperate during the construction work and have assured them that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their safety and convenience.

The issue of trains being longer than the designated platform is a common problem that many commuters face. However, the railway authorities are taking steps to address the issue and ensure that passengers can travel safely and comfortably. It is essential to maintain open communication between the authorities and the passengers to resolve such issues efficiently.
