Elderly Woman Dies in Mumbai Home Robbery: Robber Tied Up Couple and Escaped with Gold and Valuables

According to police, three robbers reportedly taped the mouths of a 70-year-old woman along with her husband inside their Tardeo flat in Mumbai’s southern part on Sunday before escaping with gold and other belongings, leaving the woman dead and the man seriously hurt.

The three criminals broke in as the couple left their flat for an early-morning walk around 6 am. The victims’ wrists and legs had been tied and their mouths were taped.

They then ran away with gold jewellery, wristwatches, and cash, according to a Tardeo police department officer.

It happened in the Yusuf Manzil building. The only occupiers of the building were the victims, Surekha Agarwal and her 75-year-old husband Madan Mohan Agarwal.

Madan Mohan Agarwal was pulled to the hallway, his wrists were bound, and his mouth was taped. Surekha Agarwal, his wife, who is 70 years old, was also brought to her bedroom, her mouth was similarly taped, and her hands were securely tied.

With brown cellophane tape, the accuser taped their mouth shut and bound their hands and legs.

Madan Mohan managed to enter the flat’s front door and activated the security alarm after the accuser had left the scene. He claimed that later, a member of the housing society came to their rescue.

As soon as they received the information, the police arrived on the scene and sent both of them to Nair hospital, where Surekha Agarwal’s death was confirmed.

But the woman had been found to be unconscious. The police official said, “She was taken to a nearby hospital where she eventually was declared dead.”

She resided in a 3BHK third-floor apartment owned by Yusuf Manzil in Tardeo with her husband, 75-year-old imitations jewellery maker Madan Mohan Agarwal.

According to the police, a murder and robbery case has already been filed against the three robbers, who were the subject of the inquiry.

The case has been recorded under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), comprising sections 302 (murder), 394 (voluntarily causing harm), and additional sections, and an inquiry into the occurrence is still ongoing.

The case is being looked into more thoroughly.
