An FIR has been filed against the three contractors who built the Versova Creek Bridge as it has multiple potholes barely five months after it was inaugurated due to suspected subpar construction.
Three road contractors, identified as Vijay Mistry, owner of M Mistry Construction Pvt Ltd, Ashish Sharma, and Ashok Thorat, owners of NG Project Ltd., have been detained by the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police.
Commuters have been complaining about large potholes that had appeared on the recently built bridge, according to Shiv Sena MP Rajendra Gavit.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) lodged a complaint at the Kashimira police station as a result of the intervention of Shiv Sena MP Rajendra Gavit, who met Madhukar Pandey, the MBVV police personnel. Following an inspection by a police squad, a violation of section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (anyone commits any act in such a hasty or careless manner as to threaten human life or the personal safety of others) was reported.
The owners of these construction companies are accountable for endangering commuters’ lives, a police officer from the Kashimira police station said.
Gavit promised to see to it that the culprits who have profited and troubled lakhs of commuters were taken into custody by the Kashimira police.
