The Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system that serves the city of Mumbai and the surrounding metropolitan region. The MMRDA(Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) has been working on a number of expansion projects in recent years to increase the reach of the system and provide more transportation options to commuters.
One of the most significant expansion projects currently underway is the Mumbai Metro Line 6, which runs from Swami Samarth Nagar in Lokhandwala to Vikhroli.
The 14.5 km line includes 13 elevated stations and a depot, and is expected to be completed by 2025. The line will serve several important business and residential areas in Mumbai, providing a much-needed transportation option for commuters.
Double-Decker Bridge to be built 2.58 KM Road Flyover below Metro Line 6:
As part of the Mumbai Metro Line 6 project, the MMRDA is also constructing a 2.5 km road flyover that will run beneath the metro line on a common pier.
The flyover will connect WEH and EEH and is expected to help alleviate traffic congestion on JVLR(Jogeshwari–Vikhroli Link Road). The flyover will be constructed using the latest technology and is being built to international standards.
The overall cost of the Metro line 6 project is expected to be over Rs 6700 crore and may take a few more years to complete.
In addition to the road flyover, the Mumbai Metro Line 6 project also includes the construction of 13 elevated stations and a depot.
The stations will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including lifts, escalators, and CCTV cameras, to ensure the safety and comfort of commuters.
Current Status:
According to MMRDA’s recent statement, metro line 6 has completed about 66% of the overall work. The civil work on metro stations for line 6 has been completed by 51.50%.
About 71% of the viaduct has been completed on the 15.31 km long Metro corridor route for Metro line 6.
Mumbai Metro was launched in June 2014 and currently consists of 12 operational lines with a total length of over 400 km. The Mumbai Metro is a popular transportation option for commuters, providing a fast, reliable, and affordable way to travel around the city.
