Megha Engineering Wins Contract to Build Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project, Beating L&T

Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) has won a contract to build the ambitious Thane-Borivali twin tunnel project in Mumbai, beating out engineering giant Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T).

Project Aims to Cut Travel Time and Carbon Emissions

The project, which is being executed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), aims to reduce travel time from Thane to Mumbai’s western suburbs from 60 minutes to just 15-20 minutes. Additionally, the tunnels will significantly cut carbon emissions from vehicles on that route.

MEIL Emerges as Best Bidder

MMRDA has awarded Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) the contract for the Thane-Borivali twin tunnel project after they emerged as the best bidder from a tender floated in January 2023, confirmed MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas.

Project Set to Begin After Monsoon Season
