L&T secures the contract for BMC’s Dahisar-Bhayander Link Road project

Dahisar Bhayander Link Road

The Dahisar-Bhayander Link Road (DBLR), a vital transportation route intended to improve the connection between the western suburbs and the outskirts of Mumbai, has been granted to Larsen & Toubro (L&T).

In four years, as per plan, the project should be finished. Within a 10-minute travel time, the Dahisar-Bhayandar Link Road connectivity will offer speedier commuter options. This connectivity consists of two interchanges at the Dahisar and Bhayander ends as well as two bridges, including the required steel arch bridge.

The proposed route has a length of approximately 5 km, of which approximately 1.5 km will fall under BMC jurisdiction and approximately 3.5 km will fall under MBMC jurisdiction.

An initial deadline of March 10 was set for the project’s tender, which was first floated back in October 2022. Nevertheless, deadlines were repeatedly stretched. Nine corporations in total had filed proposals to the civic organization; three of them, J Kumar Infrastructure Projects Limited, Larsen and Toubro, and Afcons Infrastructure Limited, were shortlisted, and L&T was given the job on Tuesday with Rs 1,959 crores.

The proposed elevated road link will run from Uttan Road near Subhash Chandra Bose Ground in Bhayander West to Kandarpada Metro Station on Link Road in the vicinity of Dahisar West.

According to P. Velrasu, an additional municipal commissioner, the project will not only give citizens faster transportation options but will also be able to use this new route as a substitute for traffic congestion.

After the project is finished, L&T will also be in charge of maintenance and repairs for the following three years, he continued.

The road’s 75,000 vehicles per day capability will lessen the strain on Dahisar East check naka by 30–35%.
