The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced plans to build a towering structure called the ‘Mumbai Eye’, similar to the popular ‘London Eye’.

This ambitious project aims to boost tourism in Mumbai by providing visitors with a panoramic view of the city from a height of approximately 120 to 150 meters.

To ensure the project’s technical feasibility, the MMRDA will appoint a consultant for site determination, environmental impact assessment, and transport study.

The tender process will soon follow, and the feasibility study will explore whether the project is feasible in all respects.

The project’s approximate expenditure is expected to be INR 2,000 crore.

The ‘Mumbai Eye’ will be constructed along the same lines as London’s ‘London Eye’, a cradle erected on the banks of the River Thames.

More than 35 lakh tourists visit this popular attraction every year, making it a favorite among visitors from around the world.

The MMRDA has decided to replicate this success in Mumbai by building a similar landmark to attract tourists.

The Mumbai Eye project will be carried out in two stages. In the first phase, the consultant will search for the location and check the project’s feasibility.

In the second phase, the actual construction of the project will begin. The MMRDA will invite global tenders for the project, which will be implemented on a public-private partnership basis.

For the ‘Mumbai Eye’ to be successful, it needs to be located near the sea or on the seafront. However, the exact location has not been finalized yet.

According to S V R Srinivas, the Metropolitan Commissioner, the consultant will search for a suitable location, and the MMRDA will finalize it accordingly.

The ‘Mumbai Eye’ is set to become an iconic landmark that will not only enhance Mumbai’s tourism but also provide an unforgettable experience for visitors.

The project will generate revenue and employment opportunities for the city while boosting its global image.

With the MMRDA’s vision and commitment, the ‘Mumbai Eye’ project is expected to become a reality soon.
