Mumbai-Ahmedabad Route Fence

The Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express, a popular train service that was launched in February 2019, has been receiving high occupancy rates, making it a top choice for passengers travelling between Maharashtra and Gujarat.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance passenger safety and security, the Indian Railways has announced the construction of a metal fence along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.

The Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express was introduced in September 2022 to connect the state capitals of Maharashtra and Gujarat with halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.

The train covers seven districts en route and has become a popular mode of transportation for passengers travelling between these two states. With an average occupancy rate of 130%, the train service has been a successful addition to the Vande Bharat Express fleet.

The metal barrier fencing along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route will cover a length of about 622 km, and the project will be undertaken at an approximate cost of Rs 245.26 crore.

The fencing is being installed to enhance the safety and security of passengers travelling on the Vande Bharat Express.

The project has been awarded to eight tenders, and work is progressing at full speed to ensure its completion by the end of May 2023.

Below is video of the fencing work tweeted by Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The metal fence will provide a physical barrier between the railway tracks and the surrounding areas.

This will prevent people and animals from entering the tracks and causing accidents. The fencing will also deter any unauthorized access to railway tracks, which can lead to sabotage or theft.

Moreover, the metal fence will help in keeping the tracks clean and free from garbage, plastic and other debris.

This will not only enhance the overall aesthetic of the railway tracks but also prevent any obstruction to the smooth movement of trains.

Apart from the Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express, nine other Vande Bharat trains are currently operational across India.

These trains connect different parts of the country and have been a popular mode of transportation for passengers due to their speed, comfort, and affordability.

The construction of the metal fence along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route is a significant step towards enhancing the safety and security of passengers travelling on the Vande Bharat Express.

With the completion of this project, passengers can be assured of a safe and comfortable journey on this popular train service.

The Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade its infrastructure are a testament to its commitment to providing the best possible service to its passengers.

The installation of metal barrier fencing along the train route is a significant step in ensuring the safety of passengers and preventing accidents.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2023.
