Mumbai Metro 2A and 7 started its operation on 2nd April, partially running between Aarey and Dhanukarwadi has announced that it has achieved a significant milestone by completing more than 25 lakh ridership in just three months.
According to MMRDA tweet, “Mumbai Metro 2A & 7 crosses the 25 lakh commuter mark and achieves a 98.7% success rate in trips run. A significant milestone achieved as these routes complete an impressive 3-month run after being inaugurated on 2nd April 2022.”
There are 30 stations in Metro Line 7 and Line 2A; however, as a part of Phase 1, only 18 stations were opened for commercial operation on 2nd April. The entire stretch currently operational is 20 km in length, connecting these 18 stations between Dhanukarwadi and Aarey.
Since these metro corridors are not operational to their full capacity, these partially operational lines face low footfall from the expected ridership.
Although, MMRDA is expected to open Phase 2 for Metro Line 7 and 2A by this year. Once these lines are operational, this route will cover 35 km of stretch, which will run between Dahisar and D N Nagar.
