Mumbai Metro Line 1 is the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro corridor, the first rapid transit metro system in Mumbai. This metro corridor is 11.4 KM elevated and consists of 12 stations from Versova to Ghatkopar.
It was a breakthrough for Mumbai when it received its first Metro Rail Network. The overall cost estimate for the Mumbai Metro Line 1 is ₹4,321 crore (US$610 million), which is 84% more than the initially quoted amount of ₹ 2,356 crores as per the signed contract in March 2007.
On 21st June 2006, India Former Prime Minister, Mr Manmohan Singh, laid the foundation stone for Mumbai Metro Phase-1.
In March 2007, The metro project for Line 1 was awarded to Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL), a joint venture company owned by Reliance Infrastructure (69%), MMRDA (26%), and Veolia Transport (5%).
On 8th June 2014, Line 1 started its operation.

The minimum fare for a single journey traveling in metro line 1 is ₹10, and the maximum fare is ₹ 40.
On Jan 22nd, 2020, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) announced a new plan offering unlimited rides on Metro during the validity period of 30 days. Metro Line 1 also offers monthly trip pass and other fare options.
