Mumbai Metro lines 2A and 7 start operations from Today by 8 PM onward

The line will be open to the public from today (Saturday) 8 PM onwards.

Mumbai today would be receiving its second metro corridor, i.e., Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 running between Dhanukarwadi and Aarey. However, both corridors are not fully operational, and only partial stations will be operational for public use on both lines. Metro Line 7 corridor is planned to run between Dahisar and Andheri, but as a part of phase-1, it will be operational only till Aarey Station. Similarly, Metro line 2A is planned to run between Dahisar and D.N.Nagar but will be operated until Dhanukarwadi. The other stations on Metro Line 7 and 2A will be operational in phase 2. According to MMRDA, Phase 2 should be ready by August 15th, 2022.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will flag off the new metro lines 2A and 7 at 4 PM from Aarey Station. The line will be open to the public from today (Saturday) 8 PM onwards. The minimum fare is ₹10 for 3km, and the maximum fare is ₹50 for 30km. The commuter has to pay fare based on the kilometer traveling on the metro. Currently, there is no monthly pass officially declared by MMRDA.

The headway between each train will be 11 minutes, and the operational hours will be between 6 AM to 10 PM. The train is designed for driverless operation along with CBTC signaling systems. However, during the initial phase of the operation, it will be manned by operators, including female drivers. MMRDA also confirmed that multi-modal integration had taken place at the stations and BEST buses, which will act as feeder services for the new metro line.
