Mumbai-Pune expressway: 2 died & 4 were injured after the container got overturned

According to the Raigad Police, a major incident took place on the Mumbai-Pune expressway when a container was being taken from Pune to Mumbai. 

The container overturned and crashed into five cars, crashing the divider as well. Two people were killed in the incident, and four others were injured.

The container was on its way to Mumbai, according to the police, when it lost balance due to its fast speed and turned over while crossing into the opposing lane. They also mentioned that the injured people were rushed to the hospital immediately, and they are further looking into the matter. 

The registration number of the container was MH-46-AR-0181.

Five small cars altogether were affected by the collision. However, the Suzuki Dzire driver and a woman in a car with the license plate MH-48-A-6512 passed away right there and then. Female passengers in the same car who got injured were taken to the hospital right away. Two more women from another car also suffered injuries and were sent to Kamothe’s MGM Hospital.

“Agencies are on-site to determine the cause of the accident, and the process to book the container driver is underway. Initially, vehicular movement on the Pune-bound Lane was halted to remove the damaged vehicles, but now traffic is flowing normally for both directions – towards Pune and Mumbai,” said Somnath Gharge, SP Raigad.

The rest of the incident’s details are yet to be revealed.
