Mumbai’s CSMT Heritage Tour Now Pricier with Enhanced Booking Process

Discover the charm and grandeur of Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) through a heritage tour that promises to transport visitors back in time. However, a recent development has caused a stir among tourists and locals alike. The Central Railway (CR) has increased the ticket prices for the tour, partnering with Raconteur Tours and BookMyShow to streamline the booking process. This article explores the details of this change, the reasons behind it, and what visitors need to know to enjoy this unique experience.

The Central Railway (CR) recently implemented a significant fare hike for the CSMT heritage tour, leaving many people surprised. Previously priced at INR 50 per person, the ticket rates have now escalated to INR 500. This decision has generated a range of reactions, with some expressing concern over affordability and others understanding the need for revenue generation.

To attract more visitors to the CSMT heritage tour, the Central Railway had actually reduced the ticket price earlier this year. In January, the fare was slashed from INR 200 to INR 50. The move aimed to make the experience accessible to a wider audience and promote tourism in Mumbai. However, the recent hike seems to contradict this initial effort.

As part of the CR’s efforts to streamline the CSMT heritage tour, they have partnered with Raconteur Tours, a reputed tour operator, and BookMyShow, a popular online ticketing platform. The goal is to improve the overall booking process, making it easier and more convenient for visitors to secure their tour tickets.

Under the new arrangement, licensees are granted permission to set up a reception kiosk to enhance the visitor experience. These kiosks will assist tourists by providing necessary passes, identity cards, and guidance. The initiative aims to ensure a smooth and organized experience for all participants.

With the recent fare revision, visitors will now need to pay INR 500 per person for the CSMT heritage tour. This increase has brought concerns about affordability for some individuals. Additionally, students who previously paid INR 20 will now have to pay INR 150 for the tour.

To maintain security and regulate access, all participants must provide a valid ID card copy. Accepted forms of identification include passports, Aadhar cards, or driving licenses. This requirement ensures a safe and organized experience for everyone involved.

As Mumbai’s CSMT heritage tour undergoes changes to its pricing and booking process, visitors can still look forward to immersing themselves in the rich history and architectural marvel of this UNESCO world heritage site. While the recent fare hike has caused some concerns, the partnership between Raconteur Tours and BookMyShow aims to provide a seamless ticketing experience. By adhering to the mandatory ID card requirement, visitors can ensure a hassle-free exploration of the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
