Mumbai's Newly Constructed Teli Gali Connection Faces Reconstruction Due to 'Uneven Undulations'

Part of the spanking new Teli Gali connection, which was created as an approach road to the Gokhale bridge in Andheri East, will be rebuilt six months after it was erected. The BMC has given the contractor instructions in this regard. Civic officials stated they had no choice after discovering “uneven undulations” on the yet-to-be-opened edifice, even as stunned citizens lambasted the municipal corporation.

“It’s completely insane. This section of the bridge was finished only 6-7 months ago, and ‘undulations’ have formed in such a short time. If this is the case now, I shudder to think about what will happen after it is accessible to the public and vehicles begin to use it. British-era bridges have lasted more than a century.” “Earlier BMC flyovers lasted 40–50 years, but this bridge is experiencing undulations in less than a year,” said Dhaval Shah, chairman of the Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizen’s Association.

When asked about the project, a BMC official stated, “We recently discovered some uneven undulation on the surface area of around 10 square metres while inspecting the structure.” As a result, we requested that the contractor remove the section and redo the uneven area. It will be carried out at his expense. The bridge is not yet operational.”
