New Skywalk: Connecting Bandra Station and Terminus

The Western Railway (WR) has undertaken a remarkable initiative to enhance connectivity between Bandra station and Bandra Terminus.

Following the success of a 314-meter skywalk connecting Khar suburban station to the terminus, WR has decided to extend this convenience to Bandra.

This means passengers can now effortlessly reach the terminus without stepping out of the Bandra station premises.

Additionally, this development will put an end to the frustrating experiences with auto-rickshaw drivers, providing a smoother journey for everyone.

Prepare to walk along the longest skywalk in the area! The skywalk at Bandra station is set to stretch approximately 340 meters, making it a remarkable feat of engineering.

It will seamlessly connect the foot over bridge (FOB) at the northern end of the station to the FOB at the southern end of the terminus.

This project has been allocated a budget of around INR 24.62 crore, underscoring the importance and scale of this development.

For a while now, commuters have faced difficulties reaching Bandra terminus by road. However, with the new skywalk, this issue will become a thing of the past.

A senior official expressed confidence that this solution will permanently eliminate the inconvenience of accessing Bandra terminus from both sides.

Commuters can look forward to a more seamless and hassle-free journey.

To accommodate the increased connectivity resulting from the new skywalk, the local station at Khar is undergoing a significant upgrade.

It will transform into a two-deck station, effectively managing the growing number of passengers.

This upgrade demonstrates a commitment to providing improved infrastructure and services to cater to the needs of the commuting public.

While the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been independently working on the skywalk, it has faced bureaucratic challenges. However, the Western Railway (WR) has stepped up and constructed a network of bridges at Bandra station. This proactive approach by WR ensures that connectivity improvements are not delayed, enabling commuters to benefit from enhanced infrastructure sooner.

With the construction of a skywalk connecting Bandra station and Bandra Terminus, commuting in Mumbai is about to get a whole lot easier.

This development eliminates the need to step out of the station premises to reach the terminus and bids farewell to the frustrations caused by auto-rickshaw drivers.

The impressive length of the skywalk and the upgrade of the local station at Khar demonstrate the authorities’ dedication to enhancing connectivity and easing the burden on existing infrastructure.

Through collaborative efforts, the Western Railway and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are working hand in hand to meet the needs of the commuters and improve transportation in the region.

Get ready for a more convenient and seamless journey!
