According to a senior official from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), no work will be undertaken on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Sealink Sea section because of the danger considerations inherent in the monsoon season. The MTHL bridge is 21.8 kilometres long, of which 16 km is over water.

Major civil work related to the construction of the MTHL has been finished. Therefore, there is no longer any such work that can be done over the sea part during the monsoon season. There are still a few minor tasks that will be completed after the monsoon. The MTHL bridge is over 94% prepared, and it is anticipated to be finished by November and made traffic-accessible after that.

The MMRDA representative indicated that there is still work to be done on the MTHL, including filling expansion joints. The remaining construction includes waterproofing, installing concrete, and filling the expansion joints in the bridge with steel. However, this job won’t be finished during the monsoon.

Three components make up the 21.8 km long “MTHL” Seabridge, which costs Rs 18,000 crore. Package 1, which spans 10.380 km and departs from Sewri, goes by BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) and a flamingo protection area.

Similar to Package 1, Package 2 has a 7.87 km seaward stretch, and Package 3 has a 3.613 km landing distance. The current driving distance between Sewri and Chirle is 52 km.

The distance will be cut in half to 21.8 kilometers by the MTHL sea bridge. Once it is ready to traffic, the bridge will be able to accommodate 100,000 vehicles each day, allowing travelers to travel from Mumbai to Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes while also significantly reducing daily carbon emissions.
