The Solapur-CSMT (Mumbai) train recorded the highest occupancy in May out of the three Vande Bharat Express trains that run on the Central Railway (CR) network, the railway announced on Friday.
The CR’s other two semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains run on the routes between Nagpur and Bilaspur and Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi.
According to a press release, the Solapur-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Vande Bharat Express had the highest occupancy rate this month at 125.23 %, followed by the CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat Express at 119.45 %.
The occupancy rates for the Vande Bharat Express trains between Nagpur and Bilaspur were 97.92% and 95.08%, respectively.
93% and 84%, respectively, of seats were occupied on the CSMT-Sainagar and Sainagar-CSMT Vande Bharat trains.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the CSMT-Solapur and CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat trains on February 10 of this year. Prior to it, on December 11, 2022, he signalled the departure of the Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express.
Trains operated by Vande Bharat Express have an internal design and have a top speed of 160 kmph.
In the previous six months, the glass-roofed Vistadome train cars have drawn roughly 66,000 passengers, generating a revenue of Rs. 8.41 million from November 2022 to April 2023.
