President Droupadi Murmu Unveils Rs 100 Coin Celebrating NTR’s Centenary Year

On August 28, President Droupadi Murmu unveiled a Rs 100 currency in New Delhi, celebrating the illustrious politician and performer Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). The late legend received this accolade during his centenary year. The occasion was attended by his son, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and his extended family. NTR’s grandson, Jr. NTR, chose not to, though.

The celebration of NTR’s 100th birthday earlier this year was really exciting. On April 28, in Vijayawada, Rajinikanth attended the ceremony among various other celebrities and politicians.

President Droupadi Murmu presented the commemorative coin (valued at Rs 100) on August 28 in honour of NTR’s centenary year. “President Droupadi Murmu issued the commemorative coin on Late Shri NT Rama Rao to commemorate his centenary year at RBCC, the official account of the President of India said in a post with some images from the occasion. The late Shri NT Rama Rao”, according to the president, “contributed to the advancement of Telugu cinema and Indian culture. NTR was well-liked both as a leader and as a public servant”.

In the worlds of politics and film, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao was legendary. Today, August 28, the function was held in the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre with invited visitors.

President Murmu, speaking at the event, claimed that people began to revere NTR because of how lifelike the characters of Lord Rama as well as Lord Krishna that he performed became. She also emphasised how NTR used his acting to convey the suffering of the average person. She continued by saying that one of NTR’s films, “Manushulanta Okkate,” helped propagate the concept of social justice and equality.

The coin was presented to NTR in his centenary year, and President Murmu thanked the Ministry of Finance for doing so.

Speaking at the event, the President claimed that NTR’s Telugu films improved Indian cinema and culture. “Through his acting, he gave the important characters from the Ramayana and Mahabharata life. People began to worship NTR because the Lord Rama and Lord Krishna characters he performed came to life”, according to Murmu.

She observed that NTR used his acting to convey the suffering of the average person. “Through the film Manushulanta Okkate, which he made, he promoted the idea that all people are created equal. NTR enjoyed a high level of popularity both as a leader and as a public servant. Through his diligence, he authored a special chapter in Indian politics”, according to Murmu.

He started a number of public welfare activities that are still remembered today,” said Murmu.

The commemorative coin was brought to NTR by the Ministry of Finance, which was appreciated by the President. She claimed that the public would always remember him for his distinctive personality.

In the meantime, NTR’s daughter and BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari stated, “It was NTR who established an exclusive university for women—Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswadyalayam—and brought in equal rights to property for daughters in the family. He is a never-ending source of inspiration.

“Along with the BJP national president JP Nadda and others, NTR’s family and friends also attended the event. Actor, Hindupur MLA N Balakrishna, YSRCP rebel MP Kanumuri Raghurama Krishna Raju, TDP MPs, and others were there in addition to TDP National President N Chandrababu Naidu”, according to a report.
