“On Thursday, a complaint was filed against Jijau Construction Road Builder Pvt. Ltd. under Section 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code (causing death by carelessness)”, a report stated.
The death of a 22-year-old guy whose motorbike crashed into a pothole on Bhiwandi-Wada Road has led to the arrest of a road contractor in Mumbai. The contractor is accused of causing a fatality through negligence.
On August 31, Jadhav and his companion Suraj Henbade were riding a motorcycle, the police said. On the Bhiwandi-Wada Road, the motorcycle rolled into a pothole close to Palkhane village. Jadhav had severe head wounds. They were taken for treatment to a neighbouring private hospital by onlookers. Jadhav was then directed to the Mumbai Nair Hospital. On September 3, while receiving treatment, he passed away, according to a police official from Ganeshpuri police station.
Jijau Road Build Private Limited was tasked with maintaining the Bhiwandi-Wada Road, but it did not make any repairs. According to the FIR, there have been numerous accidents involving potholes that have led to fatalities.
Dharmraj Sonke, in charge of the Ganeshpuri police station, stated that the FIR had been filed as a result of the deceased’s father’s complaint. According to the complaint made by the dead father, Jayaram Jadhav, 50, his son Akash worked in Bhiwandi on a waste transport vehicle. “My daughter contacted Akash’s number on August 31.
On August 31, when Akash wasn’t home, my daughter contacted his cell phone. A doctor answered the call and informed her that Akash had been admitted to the hospital in Ambadi Village, Bhiwandi. After that, we hurried to the scene and saw that Akash and his friend had both been hurt, as the father claimed in his complaint.
According to the complaint, “the Bhiwandi-Wada road has significant potholes, and Jijau Construction Road Builder Private Limited Pvt. Ltd. is responsible for doing maintenance”. According to Jadhav’s FIR, “the construction business neglected to maintain the road, which was the main cause and resulted in the death of his son”.
Police Inspector Dharamraj Sonke at the Ganeshpuri Police Station: “The complainant came to us and reported Jijau Construction Road Builder Private Limited. There has not yet been an arrest. The probe is still ongoing.
“The government needs to put the contractor on a blacklist”, according to activists. According to the Ganeshpuri police investigating the case, “the event happened on August 31st, as Jadhav and his companion Suraj Hingade (21) were travelling back home. When his motorbike hit a pothole on the way home, Jadhav lost control of the two-wheeled vehicle. The two tumbled on the pavement and became seriously hurt. Hingade was able to escape the accident, but Jadhav, a contract driver for the BMC, passed away from his injuries three days after receiving hospital care.
The police initially reported the death as an accident, but on the father of the deceased’s complaint, they later filed an FIR against the road constructor.
