India’s Chandrayaan-3 came to be the first spacecraft to touch down close to the moon’s south pole on Wednesday, and people are still celebrating ISRO’s huge achievement. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, a movie about S. Nambi Narayanan, previously a scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation, was given the award for Best Feature Film at the 69th National Film Awards on Thursday evening, just one day after the achievement.
On August 24, a ceremony in Delhi presented the award-winning film of the 69th National Film Awards. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, starring R. Madhavan, has been named the best feature film by the jury.
Madhavan, who also wrote and directed the movie, starred in Rocketry. The biographical film centres around the biography of Nambi Narayanan, a former ISRO scientist who had been falsely accused of transferring sensitive private information to foreign organisations, and how he ultimately battled back further.
Received a ten-minute standing ovation.
At the 75th Cannes Film Festival, when he presented it in front of a select audience, “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” was given a ten-minute standing ovation.
The narrative begins with Narayanan’s time at Princeton University as a graduate student before moving on to his career as a scientist and the inaccurate conspiracy accusations levelled against him.
Madhavan had earlier stated, “There was no logical thinking or reasoning behind choosing this story as my first script. It is the tale of S. Nambi Narayanan, the ISRO aerospace engineer who was accused of espionage and later found not guilty by the Supreme Court. Nambi Narayanan’s tale and his willingness to share what occurred around the globe completely impacted us all. We had to prevent that from happening.”
The actor was honoured and grateful to receive the award.
The actor is now over the moon and has thanked the jury as well as the whole crew and cast of the movie for their major achievement.
“I am truly humbled and honoured by this recognition from the National Film Awards for Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. This film was a labour of love and a tribute to the remarkable life of Nambi Narayanan, sir. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the jury and the entire cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into bringing his story to life, and we are all extremely happy for Narayanan sir, as now the shirt will be rinsed off with the success of Chandrayaan 3 as well as the accolades that Rocketry has received,” he said.
