RPF Policeman Accused of Fatal Shooting Dismissed from Duty after Tragic Train Incident

Chetan Singh, an RPF policeman who is accused of shooting and killing four passengers on board the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express, had been dismissed from his duties this Wednesday. Singh was put into judicial detention for 14 days on August 11 and is currently held in Thane Central Prison.

“The senior divisional security commissioner of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) gave the order to dismiss Singh on Monday”, according to the official.

According to the source, The Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express was reaching Palghar station in the suburbs of Mumbai on the morning of July 31. Singh (34), his most senior officer, Tikaram Meena, and three passengers were accused of being shot and killed.

“The three passengers, Sayyad Saifuddin, Asgar Abbas Shaikh, and Abdul Kadar Mohamed Hussain Bhanpurawala, were riding on separate bogies of the train”, a report mentioned.

Killed other passengers one by one

Along with three other RPF members, Singh was a member of an escorting group on the train they were travelling on July 31. He argued with his superior, ASI Tikaram Meena, over not being released from duty despite being unwell, according to the GRP. In coach B5, Singh is charged with shooting ASI Meena dead at point-blank range.

He then killed Kadar Bhanpurwala, an elderly traveller, in the same coach at a different place around 30 minutes later. Afterwards, he went to coach B2, and there he took Syed Saifuddin as a hostage with a gun in his hand. When Saifuddin’s supervisor attempted to step in, he warned him to stay away. Saifuddin was shot after being transported to the pantry car.

Singh then walked to coach S6 of the railway and opened fire on Asghar Abbas Shaikh, a third passenger. He delivered a deeply dramatic speech while standing right next to Shaikh’s body that was captured on camera by bystanders. More than 100 eyewitnesses have provided recorded statements to Borivali GRP, which will bring charges against Singh in 90 days.

Three discipline-related previous cases against him

Chetan Singh, an RPF policeman who killed his superior and other three travellers on an express train last month, has been fired. According to an official on Thursday, he had involvement in a total of three discipline-related cases.

Singh once dragged a Muslim guy to the RPF post and humiliated him without basis while he was a member of the force’s dog unit in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain in the year 2017. Disciplinary measures were taken against him under the regulations after superiors authorised an investigation into the harassment.

He also smacked a coworker once while he was stationed in Gujarat. The official claimed that in another event, he took cash out using a colleague’s ATM card.

It has been stated that the train shooting event was the basis for the decision to fire him. Later, the Government Railway Police (GRP) detained Singh.

The purpose or aim behind this frightening crime is still a mystery.
