Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Thursday release, has had a tremendous opening weekend at the box office. The Atlee-directed film had the greatest opening day in Hindi cinema history, both internationally and domestically, grossing Rs 129.6 crore and Rs 75 crore, respectively, on its first day.
And on day 2, the movie kept up its roaring performance.
Even though Jawan’s collection fell by 30% from its first day, the movie still managed to bring in over Rs 45 crore nett on Friday, bringing its two-day total to Rs 110 crore. Despite the decline in revenue, Jawan will aim to pick up its pace over the first weekend.
The revenue for SRK’s last movie, Pathaan, in its first three days was Rs 160 crore.
According to Box Office India, “Jawan will easily surpass Pathaan on Saturday by grossing at least Rs 50 crore”.
Jawan will aim to complete its inaugural weekend with a take of between Rs 235 and 240 crore nett if it is able to maintain its momentum over the weekend. The movie’s opening day at the Indian box office saw its Hindi version earn more than Rs 65 crore. The SRK-starring movie has now established itself as the largest Hindi opening film of all time.
Previously, Pathaan made Rs 55 crore on its first day of release.
