Shocking Case of Animal Cruelty: Woman Threw Acid on Stray Dog in Mumbai

A 35-year-old lady in Mumbai is accused of throwing acid on a stray dog referred to as Brownie after noticing him interacting with cats in her apartment in Malvani, Malad.

A stray dog in a Mumbai neighbourhood was severely burned and had an eye damaged after a 35-year-old lady from Mumbai spilt acid on him. The dog identified as Brownie was reportedly attacked by the woman on Wednesday because he chased four cats that she was known to frequently feed.

Animal cruelty charges have been brought against Shabista Suhail Ansari..

“According to IPC section 429, section 11 (1), as well as section 119 within the Maharashtra Police Act, we have filed a complaint”, an officer stated.

Shabista Ansari caught by the CCTV footage

CCTV footage captures the woman walking up to the napping dog and splashing acid at it. The camera displayed the dog terribly rushing away from the attacker. The dog was spotted by the animal’s caretaker, Balasaheb Tukaram, in the late afternoon, and he immediately hurried it to the nearest animal hospital.

Bhagat then looked over the CCTV footage and caught Ansari hurting the dog. The act caught on CCTV has shocked the people that how can a woman who feeds cats can throw acid on a dog.

He presented legal action against the woman.Brownie underwent a terrifying experience as a result of her actions.

Due to the acid attack, Brownie damaged an eye and suffered from horrific burns. The harmed dog is receiving medical care at a hospital run by an NGO.

Brownie was saved by television star Jaya Bhattacharya along with her team and sent to her non-profit organisation Thank You Earth, which offers rescue and care to animals in need of assistance, where he is currently receiving medical care.

Complaint and FIR has been filed against Shabista

Following the complaint made by the chairman of the housing society, a first information report (FIR) was ultimately recorded at the Malvani police station against Sabista Ansari. The incident was recorded by the residential society’s CCTV camera.

“The woman gave the police a denial of the event but showed no regret. The dog ran furiously in pain when she threw something at it, which is evident in the CCTV clip,”according to Bhattacharya.

“The event was reported to us late on Wednesday. The vet and I helped the puppy right away and took him into our clinic. We then headed to the police station as the police needed a doctor’s note stating the burns in order to file an FIR,” Bhattacharya said.

The founder of Planet for Plants and Animals (PPA) India, Saakshi Teckchandani, called the situation disturbing but said, “As per what we are aware, the woman who injured Brownie feeds cats. It is unbelievable an individual can harm another animal while feeding cats. The hypocrisy in the conduct is clear. Cats and dogs share the same rights to our earth. In this instance, the dog should have been trained with the help of a dog behaviourist”

Teckchandani stated, “Taking the law into your own hands and inflicting serious, lifelong harm on an innocent creature is totally disgusting and surely not a means to handle the dog’s behaviour.”

Ansari was charged on Thursday by the Malvani police with violating Sections 429 of the Indian Penal Code (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value, or any animal of the value of fifty rupees), Section 11 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (treating animals cruelly), and Section 119 of the Maharashtra Police Act (punishment for cruelty to animals)”, stated an official.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the woman, Sabista Ansari, at the Malvani police department, and she is currently the subject of an inquiry. Brownie is receiving care at a hospital run by an NGO after being admitted there.
