Success rate drops to the pre-pandemic era as Maharashtra’s SSC 10th Results

The SSC or Class 10 board exam results were released by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on June 2. The results of students who took the exams can be seen on the board’s official website, mahresult.nic.in, sscresult.mkcl.org, or msbshse.co.in.

Students who took the SSC passed with a score of 93.83%. Maharashtra’s total percentage has decreased by 3.18%. Compared to last year, the pass percentage has decreased by 3.18%. There has been a 1.47% decrease in the pass rate since the academic year 2019–20, which was pre-pandemic, according to Sharad Gosavi, chair of the Maharashtra State Board.

He added that the pass percentage is declining practically across the board for state and federal board exams and that the fall in the SSC result is consistent.

Due to the severity of the pandemic, the state was forced to evaluate students on the basis of their performance in Class 9 and internal assessment rather than the customary year-end written tests, which resulted in even higher and previously unheard-of pass percentages: 99.5% statewide and 99.96% in Mumbai in 2021. However, the current student performance is comparable to Mumbai’s and Maharashtra’s respective 93.3% and 93.1% success percentages.

The influence of the lockdown on students’ learning ability, the successful copy-free campaign we ran in the state, and the relaxed rules that were briefly implemented during the board exams in epidemic years are just a few of the variables that may have contributed to this. According to Gosavi, the results vary from batch to batch and the level of exam difficulty also affects the passing rate.

151 students, including six from the division, achieved the perfect score this year, growing the 100% club despite the generally subpar performance. In the Mumbai division, the number of state board pupils who scored above 90% increased from 10,764 to 11,785, giving them an advantage over high achievers in non-state board institutions for impending junior college applications.

Poorva Londhe, a student at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School in Dadar who is also learning Bharatnatyam, achieved a perfect score of 100% in her SSC class 10 exam.
