To ensure effective nullah cleaning in Thane, the TMC has launched a dedicated helpline (No. 022 – 25399617) where residents, known as Thanekars, can register their complaints and provide feedback. This helpline serves as a direct line of communication between the citizens and the municipality, allowing prompt actions to be taken upon receiving complaints. Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has assured that immediate notice will be taken of registered responses, and necessary actions will be initiated accordingly.
Demonstrating his commitment to the city’s progress, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Thane to personally inspect the road and nullah cleaning works. During his visit, he examined various locations, including Conwood Junction for beautification and road works, Pawar Nagar for road enhancements, Tikuji Ni Wadi to Neelkanth Road for improvements, and several nullahs such as Anand Nagar on Ghodbunder Road, behind Korum Mall, and near Parabwadi at Dnyansadhana College. Additionally, CM Shinde inspected sewers beneath the highway and a newly constructed subway.
Accompanied by MLA Pratap Sarnaik, former Mayor Naresh Mhaske, and other officials, CM Shinde conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing works. In one instance, an executive engineer responsible for sewerage work at Cornwood Chowk, Vasant Vihar, was reprimanded for the delay in completing the assigned tasks. CM Shinde issued strict instructions to expedite the work to minimize inconvenience to the citizens. He also demanded clarification from the officer responsible for the delay.
During the inspection of the concrete road from Tikujiniwadi to Neelkanth Tower, CM Shinde expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the road work. However, he noticed that the workers employed in the Nilakant Tower area lacked essential safety equipment such as gloves and boots. In response, CM Shinde instructed authorities to impose fines on the contractor for neglecting safety precautions.
Thane has received a fund of INR 605 crore from the state government for city development. Currently, 282 road works are underway, supervised by the respective ward committees. The initial package of INR 214 crore includes the construction of 127 roads, while the second package of INR 391 crore covers the construction of 155 roads. Additionally, road works funded by the municipality, government schemes, and other authorities are meticulously inspected by the Maharashtra Chief Minister himself.
Thane’s beautification projects are progressing rapidly, transforming various chowks and enhancing the city’s aesthetics. However, Chief Minister Shinde highlights the need for regular care and maintenance to ensure that these improvements are long-lasting. By providing consistent attention to these beautification initiatives, the government aims to create a sustainable and visually appealing environment for all Thane residents.
