The Indian Railways is all set to launch the fourth Vande Bharat Express, the Mumbai-Goa semi-high-speed train. This train is capable of running at a maximum speed of 180 km/hour and is equipped with several advanced features, making it one of the most-awaited trains in the country.
The electrification of the Mumbai-Goa railway route was completed last month, paving the way for the launch of the Vande Bharat Express on this route. This new train service is expected to provide a comfortable and fast travel option for passengers traveling between Mumbai and Goa.
A passenger’s Right to Information (RTI) application revealed that the Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed train in India, has been running at an average speed of approximately 83 kmph for the past two years. This is due to poor track conditions, despite the train having a permitted top speed of 130 kmph for commercial services.
As per the same RTI response, the average speed of the Vande Bharat Express was 84.48 kmph in 2021-22 and 81.38 kmph in 2022-23.
In response to these findings, officials clarified that the Vande Bharat Express has better acceleration and deceleration capabilities compared to the Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains, allowing for faster average speeds during the journey.
The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express is equipped with several unique features that make it stand out from other trains. The executive class carriages have spinning seats that can swivel up to 180 degrees, providing passengers with a comfortable and luxurious travel experience. Additionally, the train can run through the steepest ghats on the Pune and Nashik routes without any supporting rear engines, making it a first-of-its-kind train in India.
The launch of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express is eagerly awaited by passengers who are looking for a comfortable and fast travel option between Mumbai and Goa. With several advanced features and unique amenities, this train promises to provide a luxurious travel experience to passengers.
