These Five Mumbai Metro stations now permit parking

Mumbai: Mеtro Linе-10 to Fеaturе Doublе-Dеckеr Dеsign, Expеctеd by 2027

From March 18, passengers on the Metro-2A and Metro-7 Lines will be able to park their vehicles at five bus depots close to metro stations.

Parking has been identified at the bus depots of Oshiwara, Goregaon West, Malad West, Magathane, and Vazira Naka, Borivali.

At these five locations, 483 vehicles can be parked in total. In addition to reducing travel time, this facility will fulfil commuters’ requirements for last-mile connectivity.

For this pilot project, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) have collaborated.

For the first time, depots will be used to park outsiders’ vehicles for a predetermined amount of time.

The “Park +” app allows users to access these parking lots. More than 400 parking spots will be accessible at these five stops (see box).

The levy is by all accounts sensibly estimated at ₹20 for 2-wheelers and ₹30 for four-wheelers for the initial 3 hours. After that, two-wheelers will cost ₹25, and four-wheelers will cost ₹40 for six hours.

According to MMRDA sources, one of the complaints they have received concerns parking and connectivity in the last mile.

The BEST is operating AC buses on the route that connects Dahisar, Ovaripada, and Rashtriya Udyan metro stations from Mira Road Station East to Magathane Depot as part of a plan to improve last-mile connectivity.

“Due to the proximity of these bus depots to metro stations, an additional service is offered to the general public. According to an MMRDA official, the pilot project’s five regions have been chosen.

Mumbai residents will no longer have to rely on public transportation to get to the metro station from their homes or places of employment, thanks to this. They can park their vehicle, take the metro train, or drive.

“The construction of these parking spaces at various sites would shorten the distance that tourists must go, increasing their value and saving them time. Also, the Mumbai metro will provide visitors with additional benefits to improve their experience. MMMOCL’s CMD, SVR Srinivas, said
