Traffic restrictions have been planned in Navi Mumbai several days before Coldplay’s massive performance in India. To guarantee everyone’s safety during the event at Dr. D.Y. Patil Stadium in Nerul on January 18, 19 and 21, Navi Mumbai traffic officials have also issued a list of rules that must be adhered to by the commuters.
Tirupati Kakade, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) has also issued an order. So, heavy trucks are prohibited from entering the city on these specific days during the concert. It is also prohibited for heavy or goods-carrying vehicle to enter, travel or even park on any route under the authority of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
These limitations will be in effect on January 18, 19, and 21 from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m. every single day of the concert. These restrictions are not for government cars, fire departments, ambulances and vehicles carrying transporting supplies.
“Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly on the concert dates and avoid roads near the stadium during the restricted hours. Adequate arrangements to facilitate the movement of emergency and essential services during this period will be made,” DCP Kakade said while talking about the traffic restrictions, as quoted by Free Press Journal.
Routes to avoid:
- Sion-Panvel Highway (Nerul stretch)
- Eastern Express Highway (towards Vashi)
- Uran Road
- Palm Beach Road (Nerul Junction)
Alternative Routes:
- You can opt for Thane – Belapur road
- If coming from South Mumbai, you can opt for Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL)
- if coming from western mumbai, one can opt for Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road –> Eastern Express Highway –> Airoli Bridge –> Thane – Belapur road
This will be the first performance in India since 2016. Coldplay will also be performing at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25 and 26, 2025.
In an effort to ensure that the event is as smooth as possible, commuters are advised to remain informed and adhere to the designated routes.
