War Art Memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to be set-up soon in Gorai

According to Tuesday’s announcement by Mangal Prabhat Lodha, the Maharashtra Tourism Department would erect a War Art Memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on a property owned by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) at Gorai.

The state government stated in the budget presented this year that a sum of Rs 50 crore would be used to build the museum on 136 acres of land.

The minister added that a specific campaign has been started by the state government in Mumbai to remove illegal structures that have been built on public property.

At a meeting held on Monday at the Mantralaya, the tourism department made a resolution regarding this.

The museum would, according to officials, also feature models of Shivaji Maharaj’s numerous forts, particularly his sea forts, as well as facts about his military prowess. The museum will also feature exhibits on guerilla warfare and Shivaji Maharaj’s numerous wars.

An encroachment on the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation site in Gorai was cleared. To enable future generations to witness Chhatrapati Shivaji’s illustrious history and draw inspiration from it, a war museum would be built in the area where the combat prowess and armour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be shown, according to Lodha, who also added that construction will begin as soon as possible.

This museum’s final design has been chosen, and construction will soon begin.
