Mumbai commuters can now breathe a sigh of relief as Western Railways (WR) has successfully commissioned another Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Charni Road station. The move is a part of the infrastructural upgradation and augmentation works undertaken by the railway authorities for the convenience and safety of passengers.

According to an official statement issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, The new 38.3m x 6m FOB at Charni Road replaces the old FOB and connects PF Nos. 1 and 4 with the MCGM skywalk at a cost of INR 4.5 crores. The old FOB was closed in Oct 2021 and the new FOB opened on Feb 27, 2023.

The new FOB at Charni Road station will ease commuting woes for passengers. Railway authorities continue to upgrade and augment infrastructure to enhance the Mumbai suburban network’s passenger experience.

FOBs have been built at various stations, including Virar, Dadar, and Charni Road, while the Andheri Skywalk and another connecting Bandra Terminus to Khar Road station have also been constructed.

The railway authorities have been undertaking various measures to ensure passenger safety, including the implementation of automatic door-closing systems in trains, the installation of CCTV cameras, and the construction of new FOBs and skywalks.

Mumbai’s busy suburban network sees millions of daily passengers, and the authorities strive to enhance their experience and safety. The new FOB at Charni Road station demonstrates their commitment to providing safe and convenient transportation.

The railway authorities have urged the passengers to use the newly commissioned FOB and skywalks and cooperate with them in their efforts to enhance the passenger experience. They have also advised the passengers to follow the COVID-19 protocols and maintain social distancing while travelling.

In conclusion, The new FOB at Charni Road station is an important improvement for Mumbai commuters, making things safer and reducing overcrowding. It’s just one of many upgrades that show a commitment to making things better for passengers on the suburban network.
