Young Flight Attendant Found Dead in Mumbai Flat; Cleaner Arrested in Connection with Murder

Tragic End to Mumbai Flight Attеndant Murdеr Casе: Accusеd Takеs His Lifе in Andhеri Lock-up

The body of a 24-year-old flight attendant was discovered around midnight Sunday in her Mumbai flat. The accused, who was employed by a private housekeeping service as a cleaner, was taken into custody by the Powai police just one day later.

On Monday, September 4, a 24-year-old flight attendant from Chhattisgarh was murdered inside her Mumbai flat. The matter has already resulted in an arrest.

Rupal Ogrey, a Chhattisgarh native, had been hired by Air India in Mumbai as a flight attendant in training. She moved from her hometown to Mumbai five months ago, in April.

Local friends visited to check on Rupal at her family’s request for help, and while there, they found her dead. When Rupal stopped returning their calls, her family members became alarmed. They arrived at the apartment in the N G Complex on Krishanlal Marwah Marg in the Marol neighbourhood of suburban Andheri and found that it had been locked from the inside, but no one responded to the door.

The accused’s wife, who works in the same apartment as a housekeeper, is also being questioned by the police. Additional inquiry is being undertaken.

She was taken to Rajwadi Hospital after being taken to the Powai police station, where she was declared dead by the staff.

Vikram Atwal, a 40-year-old home cleaner, was the main accused in the case, and it should be commended that the Mumbai police moved quickly to make an arrest.

According to Datta Nalawade, the deputy commissioner of police, “We have detained the accused, who works as a cleaner for a private housekeeping service, on the basis of technical proof. To learn more about the murder and its cause, we are questioning him more.

According to a police official, “Rupal Ogrey, the deceased, was discovered dead late Sunday night at her flat in the Andheri area”.

He said, “She was from Chhattisgarh and moved to Mumbai in April for training with Air India.”

“Vikram Atwal, 40, was the accused”, according to the police. “On the basis of technological evidence, we have taken the accused person into custody, who is a cleaner for a private housekeeping company. To learn more information about the murder and its cause, we are questioning him further”, the Deputy Commissioner added.

According to the police, “the woman shared a flat with her sister, who moved back to her hometown a week ago. Ogrey was killed while alone in the flat, according to the authorities”.

“After she stopped returning calls, her family started to suspect something. Her friends in Mumbai were contacted by her family and requested to check on her. The doorbell went unanswered, and the flat was locked from the inside”.

The incident was reported to the Powai police. When the police arrived at her flat, they found and saw her already dead with her neck slit, and they hurried to the Rajawadi Hospital. When the physicians arrived, they pronounced her dead.

The victim used to live in Mumbai with her sister and her sister’s boyfriend, who moved back to their home country about a week ago, according to the police, who added that Rupal was murdered while she was alone herself.

The accused’s wife is being investigated as well because she likewise works as a housekeeper in the same building. Further investigations are required once a case has been filed under IPC Section 302 (murder).
