According to the Mumbai police, a man is accused of using a crowbar to kill and cut up his brother-in-law for bothering his wife.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemraj Rajput, the accused, Shafiq Ahmed Shaikh, claimed that his wife had been harassed by Ishwar Putran, a 17-year-old who had been reared by Shaikh’s wife’s father.
A 33-year-old man was detained in Mumbai on suspicion of fatally stabbing his 17-year-old brother-in-law, then dismembering and keeping his body parts in the kitchen. According to the authorities, he later confessed to family members.
The culprit, identified as Shafi Sheikh by the police, reportedly stated that he killed his brother-in-law. Ishwar Putran on Monday in an outburst of anger with a sickle after he behaved improperly with his wife as well as his 16-year-old sister-in-law
The man allegedly killed Putran in Mumbai’s Chembur on Monday after warning him repeatedly to stop. He then allegedly hacked up Putran’s body into multiple pieces and hid them in his kitchen.
The accused’s father-in-law inquired about Putran after the victim was reported missing for two days. He called the police after he began to feel uneasy.
The individual was questioned by the authorities and later admitted to carrying out the vicious killing. Although the accused’s wife regarded him as a brother, the cops said that they were not blood relatives.
Police have detained the man in connection with a murder and evidence destruction investigation.
Upon receiving a complaint from Lalit Putran, whose family adopted the person who died, a case of murder along with the destruction of evidence was reportedly opened at the RCF police station on Wednesday.
Lalit, who owns a horse barn in Chembur with his wife Reshma, has five daughters, a police officer claims. They noticed one young child living in their neighbourhood about twelve years ago. The couple agreed to adopt him after finding out that his mother had passed away and that his father had gotten married to another lady. His original name was Ishwar Marwadi, but he received the name Ishwar Lalit Putran after being adopted.
“Ishwar has been residing with us in our home at MHADA Colony ever since. Amayra, one of my daughters, wed Shaikh four years ago, and ever since then, Shaikh and Ishwar, my adopted son, have been at odds with one another”, said Reshma.
“Shaikh and Amayra are parents to a child who works as a rickshaw driver. Shaikh claims in his police confession that he witnessed Ishwar acting inappropriately with Amayra at their Chembur home about a year ago. Sheikh, Amayra, and their child lived apart, but Ishwar frequently visited them because their home was close to her family’s home. He claims that he witnessed him acting inappropriately with his wife on one of these visits. Shaikh claims he forewarned Ishwar at the time.” she added.
“But recently, the accused spotted Ishwar acting inappropriately with his 16-year-old sister-in-law, and he told the family.
On Monday at 11 a.m., Shaikh summoned him to his home and issued another warning. After a verbal argument, Shaikh allegedly punched Ishwar”, according to the police.
“When no one else was home, Shaikh hit the man on the neck with a sickle in a fit of fury. After he passed away suddenly, the accused told his wife to remain at her parents’ home. Then he decided to kill him. After that, the body pieces were kept in his kitchen”, according to a senior police official.
Amayra came to the residence on Tuesday, but Shaikh had locked the kitchen and told her not to enter since he kept his personal items there. “Even when I went to the toilet, Shaikh would check to make sure I wasn’t entering”, according to Amayra.
Ishwar was still absent, so Lalit and Reshma reported him missing to the RCF police station.
“We were certain Shaikh must have killed him… On Tuesday evening, we invited him over and began grilling him. After some time, he admitted to killing him,” stated Reshma.
“He was brought into custody after the family members called the police. The accused was arrested after the body was found on Wednesday afternoon”, according to a police officer.
According to the police, “the accused will appear in court on Thursday”.
Police claim that “Ishwar and Shaikh both have criminal histories and have spent time in juvenile detention facilities and jails, respectively”.
