Renovating the entire location
“In a related move, the MCA recently signed an arrangement with Shashi Prabhu & Associates, the renowned architects responsible for the design of Wankhede Stadium. The goal of this collaboration is to completely renovate the venue in time for the World Cup. Although time is of the essence, the MCA is completely dedicated to enhancing lavatory facilities, building a ramp for differently-abled spectators, and creating a more spectator-friendly environment”, According to sources, “the re-laid outfield already has a lush green aspect”.
“Meanwhile, the MCA signed a contract last week with the Wankhede Stadium’s architects, Shashi Prabhu & Associates, to refurbish the entire stadium for the World Cup. Time is limited, but the MCA’s goal is to renovate all of the restrooms, build a ramp for specially-abled spectators, and provide as much spectator-friendly atmosphere as possible. The re-laid outfield is already looking lush green”, according to a source.
“The Mumbai Cricket Association is expected to earn a huge amount of money, estimated at Rs 150 crore, from the sale of hospitality boxes at Wankhede Stadium during the 2023 ODI World Cup”, a source said.
DreamSetGo (a subsidiary of Dream XI) and Cutting Edge have each bid around Rs 50 crore for three sections and 529 luxury seats on Level 2 inside the Vithal Divecha Pavilion of Wankhede Stadium. The agreement is for ten years. However, many MCA members have expressed concern about the sale of such seating in the Vithal Divecha Pavilion to a privately owned company.
